Abact is a cane designed to allow its user to interact with public elements without direct contact. It enables actions such as opening doors or leaning against barriers while limiting exposure to shared surfaces. The project rethinks the cane as both a mobility aid and a tool for interacting with the built environment.

The handle is aligned with the foot of the cane in order to improve stability and grip. The form was developed to ensure better control of the gesture when opening a door or making contact with vertical surfaces. The project is based on an ergonomic and functional approach, focusing on precision of use.

Abact was developed during the Covid-19 period, in a context marked by increased attention to hygiene and contact with public surfaces. The project addresses these conditions by adapting an existing object to new interaction needs within public space.
